Transfer Trouble: Al Ettifaq's Missed Opportunity with Sancho Loan Bid
Al Ettifag's missed Sancho loan bid
According to the Daily Mail, Al Ettifaq has failed to sign Jadon Sancho on loan from Manchester United to Saudi Arabia before yesterday's transfer deadline.
Steven Gerrard's team and United are said to have been in contact through intermediaries about the transfer of Sancho, who had expressed an interest in moving to the Middle East.
But while United was willing to loan the 23-year-old to Al Ettifaq on a free transfer for the remainder of the season, the deal included a commitment to buy him for £50 million, something the Saudi Pro League club could not afford.
Sancho publicly clashed with United manager Erik ten Hag this weekend after the Dutchman left the England international out of the squad for Sunday's defeat at Arsenal due to a poor performance in training.
Sky Sports News understands that Sancho will be working and talking to United's coaching staff during the international break and all parties are determined to get him back to his best.
