Kelvin Prince Boateng warm up... |
Kevin-Prince Boateng had a love for two football clubs, Hertha Berlin and Real Madrid, and why he once had to pretend to support Barcelona.
The retired striker grew up friends with his childhood club, Hertha Berlin, but also loved Real Madrid, whom he supported throughout his youth.
Although Boateng did not play for Los Blancos, he spent some time on loan to Barcelona players in the 2018/2019 season.
When asked which clubs he supported as a child, the 36-year-old named Real Madrid but said he had to lie by saying that Barcelona was his favorite club when he joined the Blaugrana.
"I support Hertha Berlin, where I was born. Sorry, Blaugrana. The Barcelona fans will hate me now, but (I supported) Real Madrid," Boateng said in five podcasts on Vibe.
"I wouldn't say that in a press conference. They told me, 'Don't ever say that, otherwise you won't play.' They literally said, 'You mean 'what?' I said, and they said, “No, you can't say that. Two years before doing the interview, I was playing in Las Palmas and they asked me: "Who is the best player in the world?" "They asked me. I said Ronaldo in this world and Messi in the stars. They asked me what my favorite team was and I said Real Madrid."
"When I arrived in Barcelona the first question was: 'Which team do you like?' I said Barcelona. "Who is the best player in the world?" "I said, Messi. This is one of the biggest lies because I often say: it's true, but this time I had to lie because I once wanted to play at Camp Nou. I think everyone understands. "

Meanwhile, Boateng has just accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior after being baptized. The former AC Milan player was baptized in Germany and used social media to announce Jesus as the way, truth, and life.
Boateng announced his retirement from football in August after a career spanning almost two decades.
